The Texas Dad Hall Of Fame, Presented By Allens Boots
Texas may be known as the Lone Star State, but it definitely isn’t filled with loners.
In fact, Texans know the importance of family and the value of fatherhood. A Texan Dad is the best dad for a boy joining the football team and the worst dad to anger if you’re dating his daughter. Dads from the TX tend to be tougher than most, even in some surprising ways.
Here’s a list of just a few stand-outs that prove even fatherhood is bigger in Texas. Brought to you by people who know a thing or two about helping Texas dads rock their style, the good folks over at Allens Boots.
Dad 3:16
Stone Cold Steve Austin is just about as Texas as it gets. He even has a tattoo of the state on his leg. As far as toughness is concerned, he continued to wrestle for years after breaking his neck and hosted a show called Tough Enough.
Now while many of his fans know that he is a 6-time WWE Champion, not many know that Austin has three daughters of his own and one adopted daughter on top of that. Austin was married to fellow wrestling personality Lady Blossom, with whom he had his three daughters and even adopted Blossom’s daughter from her previous marriage. Seems that being a dad is the Bottom Line, Because Stone Cold Said So.
Texas Dad Sings Tennessee Whiskey
Singing may not be as manly as deer hunting, but you’ll be hard pressed to say that this Texas Dad doesn’t have some impressive vocals.
Kris Jones from Alvarado became a viral star on social media with over 19 million views when his 15-year-old daughter recorded him singing Tennessee Whiskey in his pickup truck outside of a Home Depot. Tennessee Whiskey, pickup truck, Home Depot…if you’re gonna toughen up singing, that sure is the way to do it.
Jones auditioned for NBC’s the Voice and said that he has always been passionate about singing. However, after having a family, he knew that he had to put his dreams to the side.
Father of Texas
Stephen F. Austin is known as the “Father of Texas.” While he was not the first person to try and colonize Texas, he was the first to do it successfully.
He did so by bringing 300 American families to the region. Talk about a Family Man. Thanks to his contribution, his legacy was rewarded by having a major Texas City named after him. Fort Worth. Just kidding, it’s the state capitol, Austin.
Tradition speaks for itself. #AllensBoots

JR Ewing
Not only was Good Ole’ JR a main character of the show Dallas, but Larry Hagman, the actor that played him, is actually from Texas himself.
Also, while “Who shot JR?” is solidified as one of the most historic moments in TV history, a lot of people don’t seem to remember what it was all about. JR was shot by Kristin Shepard (No spoiler warning, it’s been long enough), a young woman who was carrying his child. In fact, it doesn’t stop with just that one storyline either, the entire show revolved around JR and the Ewing family.
Willie Nelson
Willie Nelson is someone’s dad. Need we say more? Awesome.
Walker, Texas Father
“Insert Chuck Norris Fact Here”
Chuck Norris, Mr. Delta Force himself, has five kids and two step children and his two youngest are twins. While he isn’t originally from Texas, he has become a bit of an adopted son of the Lone Star State. In fact, in addition to all the support he has shown Texas over the years, he was also given the title of Honorary Texas Ranger by the former Governor.
He is even the “father” of his own martial arts discipline known as Chun Kuk Do.
