One of the nice things about being based in Austin is that there’s no shortage of great lunch options. From amazing Tex Mex to more food trailers than any city should rightly have, the Classic Dad team has our pick of ways to nourish ourselves during lunch before getting back to dad humor memes and videos.
But every once in a while, it’s just more fun to cook up some food ourselves.
And since we had a trusty grill and some free bags of Kingsford Charcoal from The Home Depot, that’s exactly what we did recently. Hey, having sponsors (and a parking lot out back) has its advantages!
Here’s a breakdown of the action…
George: Ate two burgers and a hot dog. Since George is from Chicago, there was no ketchup on the hot dog. That’s a no-no.
Dan: Overcooked the hot dogs but also ate two. Not bad.
Danielle: Was seen eating at least one hot dog with a slice of American cheese on it. Wow. That’s a bold combo. She also ate most of the chips, leaving precious few for the rest of us.
Hannah: Mostly snacked on chips and a hot dog. She drank quite a bit of cold brew and was appropriately buzzed the rest of the day.
Lou: Spent most of the time taking pictures and overseeing the condiment situation. He also lit the grill and made sure we has plenty of cold beverages.

Lighting: 5/5 (Very quick)

Nostalgia: 5/5 (It just feels right using Kingsford, the classic charcoal brand)
Price: 6/5 (Free!)
Look, here’s a video of us picking it up:
Thanks to The Home Depot and Kingsford. Tune in next time when we have pizza or something for lunch. It’s going to be riveting. Maybe. We’ll see. Just don’t forget to have a nice lunch yourselves.
