While dinner after dinner of chicken and steaks have been perfectly grilled by dads across the nation, let’s take a moment to salute the other meats that are delicious when grilled. For brevity’s sake, we’re also not including brats, hot dogs, or burgers in this list, because those are just as ubiquitous as steak and chicken.
Lamb
If you really want to mix up your meat game, stick a rack of lamb on the grill and try to contain yourself when you dig into some smokey goodness. To amp things up, marinate the lamb in yogurt and herbs overnight before hitting the grill.
Ribs
Obviously. You can smoke them to St. Louis style perfection on a nice Traeger Eastwood 22 if you’d like. We recently reviewed this grill and found it to be quite amazing.
Pork Chops
The humble pork chop is perfectly cut to slap on the grill, all while convincing yourself that you’re being healthier by not eating steak for the fifth time this week.
Bacon
Yes, you can grill bacon. Granted, you’ll probably want to cook it on some aluminum foil, but anytime you mix bacon and grilling, you’re going to find your happy place.
Turkey
You don’t have to grill the whole bird (but you can try!) to take advantage of some grilled turkey. Get a few turkey cutlets, salt and pepper them to your heart’s content, and get a nice sear on them. You won’t regret it.
Swordfish
Yes, swordfish. If you can find it in the seafood section of your grocery store, swordfish has firm, flavorful meat that holds up to grilling superbly. Plus your neighbors will think you’re all exotic and stuff.
A Whole Fish
You don’t need to limit yourself to fish steaks. If you can find a whole fish, about a pound or two, and are feeling confident in your tong-usage abilities, you can get yourself a full dinner of flaky, crispy deliciousness.
But of course, if you’re not feeling like any of these meats…you can also just grill a steak. That’s fine, too.
