What We Do In The Shadows

Released in 2014 and and co-written and co-directed by Jermaine from Flight of the Conchords and the director of Thor: Ragnarok, this quirky mockumentary about a house of vampires is a bit out there for some dads’ tastes, but those dads who like it love it.

It’s a mix of silly dad-approved humor as well as some gross out jokes and oddball scenes to keep you on your toes. Now’s the time to watch it before FX releases their television series based on the movie in 2019.

Robocop

Now we’re in the Classic Dad wheelhouse. 10 out of 10 dads agree that Robocop is the perfect movie. The fact that you can stream it for free on Amazon Prime is literally all it would take for a dad to justify signing up for membership. Dads love 80’s movies, and action movies, and ridiculous movies, and Robocop is the perfect center in that Venn Diagram.

Ghostbusters

Another classic, dad-approved 80’s film you can find on Prime is Ghostbusters. Just consider yourself warned, once your neighborhood dad is made aware of Ghostbusters streaming for free, you will be hearing nothing but Ghostbusters quotes for the next month.

Raging Bull

No list of dad movies would be complete without a Scorsese film or a De Niro movie. Raging Bull checks off both of those boxes. It features a peak De Niro performance, some of Scorsese’s best directing, and the fact that it’s a boxing movie doesn’t hurt its dad appeal.

Raiders Of The Lost Ark

Of course we had to include Indiana Jones. Indiana Jones is arguably the most dad-friendly movie hero of all time, and Raiders is the best film of the classic trilogy (do not talk to us about the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull). So with Raiders of the Lost Ark taking the lead, these five movies will be more than enough to distract your dad from the fact that you’re using his Prime password for free shipping without his knowledge.
