With Great Dad Comes Great Responsibility: Super Hero Kids
For a father, there’s nothing like seeing your child turn into a chip off the old block. Even if you’re a super hero. Comic Book Dads like seeing their progeny take after them. Here’s a closer look at some Super Kids who have a Super strong resemblance to their Super Pops.
Batman & Robin
The mantle of Robin has been passed down like being in the group Menudo. From Dick Grayson to Tim Drake and so on. Now while Bruce has become an adopted father to some of his proteges, one such Robin is not just an adopted son of the Dark Knight, but Bruce’s biological son, Damian Wayne. Damian was the child that Bruce never knew he had. Archenemy, Ra’as Al Ghul’s daughter, Talia Al Ghul, had Damian and raised him without the Caped Crusader’s knowledge. Then upon learning of his son, Batman took Damian in and eventually, the dynamic duo became a father and son team.
Spider-Man & Mayday Parker
In an alternate future storyline, Peter Parker and Maryjane Watson had a daughter that they named May, after Peter’s Aunt.
The young May, often referred to as “Mayday,” grows up to become the Amazing Spider-Girl. In this future, we eventually learn that Peter lost his leg in battle and retired to become a better husband and father. At first, Peter and Maryjane keep Spider-Man’s exploits away from Mayday, but as a teenager, she began developing her father’s powers.
Originally meant as a simple “What if…” comic, Mayday proved so popular that she received her own series.
Cyclops & Cable
The leader of the X-Men has an interesting relationship with his son. First, Nathan Summers, a.k.a. Cable, was born to Scott Summers and Jean Grey’s clone, Madelyne Pryor.
That’s right, after Jean died Scott had a son with her clone. Comics are weird. To make matters worse, baby Nathan suffered from a techno-organic virus, so naturally, he had to be sent to the future and raised to become a warrior. Next, Cable would then pull a Marty McFly and come back to our time to partner up with the young version of his Dad.
Hulk and Skaar
At one point, the Avengers decided that the Hulk was too dangerous to be on Earth and they sent him away into outer space. However, this turns into a bit of a honeymoon trip for the Hulk as he meets an alien named Caiera on the planet of Sakaar. Together, the two have a son, Skaar, who was birthed from a cocoon and raised to kill in order to survive and became a mighty general. Also, in the Old Man Logan timeline, Hulk also has children that he had with…well, let’s just say it’s a good thing they cut this out of the movie Logan.
Superman and Superboy
Clark Kent is surprisingly no stranger to Fatherhood. In the 90’s, his DNA was mixed with human DNA to created Conner Kent, a.k.a. Superboy.
The Human DNA came from Lex Luthor, so I guess that would make Lex Superman’s baby mama. However, the current Superboy is Jonathan Samuel Kent, Clark’s biological son with Lois Lane. Jonathan, named after Clark’s adopted father, is still just a little kid, but already he has a lot of the Man of Steel’s powers, including strength, speed and heat vision. The terrible twos must have been awful. Bet Supes can’t wait till those teenaged years are over.
