HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS
John Lithgow is one of the most versatile dad actors out there.
He can play a kooky dad (3rd Rock From the Sun), he can play an asshole dad (Footloose), he even pulled off the rare “decade-spanning serial killer who can also come off as a totally normal dad” card (Dexter).
But in Harry and the Hendersons, he managed to be the only actor who has pulled off the “befriends Bigfoot and then does that whole go on, get out of here, we don’t want you, get! Get!” thing that makes you cry when you watch the movie because he’s doing it to save Harry even though it breaks his heart.
