3 Of TV’s Most Underrated Dads
Father: Dan Conner
TV Show: Roseanne
Dan Conner might seem like a background player to the quarterback that is Roseanne. Now while that is mostly true, just think of how strong of a man Dan has to be, in order to not become emasculated by such a strong woman. Dan held his own and was a very progressive TV father in terms of family dynamic and feminism. At the same time, he was never afraid to throw down and regulate when he had to either.
When Jackie’s boyfriend Fisher hit her, Dan, without saying a word, went right over to beat Fisher to a pulp. To which the studio audience exploded into applause for. Now that’s a real man and a real badass too. He also took big chances with his career to get more to provide for his family. Sometimes they didn’t work out, like the bike shop, but he just dusted himself off and got right back on his feet.
Dan also managed, on several occasions, to let Roseanne quit her job just because she hated it, taking on the financial burden all by himself. He also let his daughters’ boyfriends live in the house…even after they broke up. Who does that?
