Just moments after his neighbor unveiled his Christmas lights display for the season, featuring thousands of lights and dozens of moving figures, jealous dad Zack Smulder reported that the lights are “just okay” and that it’s “a bit of overkill, if you ask me.”
Smulder, who spent hours trying to perfect his lighting display that currently is dwarfed in scale and scope by his neighbor’s, insisted that his jealousy did not inform his opinion, and that he simply feels that “there’s such a thing as too many lights. It’s just showy. Honestly, I respect a display that’s more understated and restrained. That’s the sign of a truly great lighting set up.”
When asked if he saw the full-sized Santa’s sleigh, with reindeer, on his neighbor’s roof, Smulder responded with a terse, “I said it’s just okay, alright? Now leave me alone, I gotta go buy some more dang lights.”
