Don Stein, 40, spent more than five hours sealing and staining his backyard fence last weekend, but is still waiting for anyone — his wife, kids, a neighbor — to notice.
“I mean look at how beautiful it came out,” he said, admiring the fence through the window. “It’s been three days and not a single compliment or even recognition of all the work I put in.”
Stein, who also sent pictures of the fence to a few select friends, is waiting for the appropriate amount of admiration from them as well.
“I got like one text back of a thumbs up emoji,” he complained. “Are you kidding me? Do you know how well this fence is going to be preserved for the next 3-5 years? No wood rot here, I can guarantee that.”
Stein is just waiting for someone to ask him about his “process,” which included modifying a bug sprayer to get “a spray so even and wonderful, you would think I paid someone hundreds of dollars to do this job.”
