2019 was a year full of regret for local dad Ken Benson, who didn’t spend nearly enough time working on projects in the garage. According to the 45-year-old insurance salesman, time was limited. Between spending evenings with his wife, kids and various chores around the house, he was only able to dedicate perhaps 2-3 hours a week to “building stuff.”
“Last year was brutal,” said Benson. “I made a birdfeeder and half a damn cabinet. That just won’t cut it in 2020. I hope you see what I did there.”
Benson has a variety of projects in mind, including a rustic pot rack for the kitchen, a new workbench, and a trophy case he hopes will encourage his teen son to take sports more seriously.
“Yep, it’s going to be me and Ralph spending some quality time in the garage in 2020,” said Benson, referring to his table saw, which he nicknamed Ralph for some reason. “The kids and [his wife] Mary will just have to get by with less dad time. But it’ll all be worth it when they see what I’m building.”
