Ever since his college graduation, 25-year-old Jordan Rossy has started every conversation with his father, 49-year-old James Rossy, with one of the two asking the other if they managed to “catch the game yesterday.”
Depending on the season, the question could be posed about football, hockey, baseball, basketball, and once this year, the Women’s World Cup. While these conversations eventually turn into Jordan telling his father what is new in his life, his weekly phone calls, which typically run about twenty minutes, devote about half of the conversation to whatever happened in the world of sports the previous day.
When asked about their father-son relationship, both Rossys described it as “extremely close,” with James adding, “when the Astros traded for Zack Greinke, I found out about it through a text from my son.”
