Lewis Elwood was reportedly seen eyeing the electric golf cart up for grabs at the Pelton’s estate sale last Friday.
“It’s only a 5 or 6-minute drive to the club in the car,” Elwood remarked to his absent-minded son, whom he’d dragged to the estate sale on a Saturday just to “check things out.”
“It’d be maybe 15 or 20 in this, but it’s a nice drive in the summer.”
Witnesses reported a hungry look in the man’s eyes as he stroked his chin, admiring the roll-down sides and self-contained AC.
“I know you don’t have much interest in playing, but maybe if we had this around it’d give you a good excuse to get out there,” Elwood said to the glassy-eyed boy.
“Now that your mom’s over in her new place, we could fill up that spot in the garage. Plus it’d be good for you to have something easy to practice on before you take a driving test.”
“I dunno. It could be kind of fun,” the teenager later told reporters.
