Several hours after accidentally smashing his arm in a car door and almost certainly breaking his wrist, 42-year-old man Jeremy Steffews has continued to ignore his family’s plea to see a doctor, saying it’s “no big deal.”
“Listen, it’s just a broken wrist,” a clearly-in-pain Steffews claimed while holding the injured limb, which has already swelled up to twice its original size. “What’s a doctor gonna tell me? That it’s broken and I gotta put a wrist guard on it or something? I can buy one from Rite Aid and save myself the copay, thank you very much.”
This is not the first time that Steffews has refused medical treatment after a particularly gruesome injury. Just last May, he steadfastly refused to go to a hospital for three days after severely cutting his hand on a rusty gutter, until the fever from the ensuing infection caused him to go to the ER in what he calls a “moment of weakness.”
