With winter fast approaching, and temperatures hitting below freezing across much of the country, Ohio father-of-three Arthur Polanski spent the entire weekend winterizing his riding lawn mower, to ensure it’s good to run when spring arrives next year.
Polanski spent all of Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday emptying the fuel tank and adding a stabilizer to the gasoline so it can still be usable in the spring. He then removed the blade, cleaned it, and oiled it before reinstalling it. He took out the spark plug, sprayed a shot of oil into the cylinder, cleaned the underside with a wire brush and putty knife, and replaced the air filter before finally storing it in an isolated section of his garage. The process took him eight man hours, as he performed many of these tasks three times “just to be sure,” but by Sunday he deemed his mower was “ready for the winter.”
When asked if he plans to put in similar work on his car, Polanski replied, “Huh, you mean to say people winterize their cars too?”
