Jeremy Prentiss, a 37-year-old resident of Oakland, California, has expressed confusion and some mild fear after his waiter brought over a glass of water with cucumbers in it at the beginning of his meal. Prentiss, who decided to spend the evening with his wife at a new French restaurant that opened up in town, tried to get the waiter’s attention, but was unable to, and now is trying to figure out the purpose of the cucumber.
“I mean, like…do I eat it? Does this mean the water isn’t free? Why did they put it there?” Prentiss asked his wife while tapping at the floating vegetables with his fork. “I mean I knew this place was fancy, but did they have to make the water fancy too? It’s water.”
As of press time, Prentiss has just hesitantly taken one sip of the beverage, which he declared as tasting “a bit too cucumber-y” for his liking.
