Ray Benson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin sent his daughter Kelly to her room without dinner last night after the 14-year-old asked for a “pumpkin spice steak.”
According to Benson, he just wanted to know if she preferred her steak rare or medium rare, but the teen instead requested pumpkin spice flavor.
“I don’t care what you get down at the mall,” Benson told her. “In this house, we only put salt and pepper on our steak. Maybe some Montreal seasoning if you want to get really crazy. But you can take that Starbucks attitude and spend the rest of the night in your room, young lady. And don’t even think about making plans with your friends this weekend. Pumpkin spice! What’s next, top it with whipped cream?!”
Benson’s wife forced him to apologize and rescind the grounding, but stopped short of making him put cinnamon and pumpkin shreds on his daughter’s steak.
“He already has a heart condition,” she said. “I don’t want to tempt fate by making him ruin a perfectly good piece of meat.”
