According to friends and family members, soon after the birth of his daughter, 34-year-old first-time father Henry Vanderhill has begun referring to events that occurred in the 1990s as, “Back in my day.”
“It’s kind of jarring, because he’s talking about how ‘different’ things were ‘back in my day’ but he’s talking about, like, his pog collection, or his favorite shows from Nickelodeon,” Vanderhill’s college roommate told reporters. “I literally heard him talking to a group of friends, all the same age, about how ‘back in my day, we had to use AOL to get online, and we liked it.’ Like, we all did that, it wasn’t that long ago.”
Vanderhill has also been heard complaining about how “kids these days have it so easy,” pointing out that, “back in my day, we didn’t have these fancy smart phones. We had to entertain ourselves the old-fashioned way. By reading the latest book in the Goosebumps series.”
