42-year-old Ed Benson thinks this could be the year he finally turns around his short, medium and long game struggles.
“If I can just improve those three areas, I’d be crushing it out there on the course,” said Benson. “Step one is identifying the problem — now I just need to fix it. Or them.”
It’s not entirely clear which aspect of Benson’s game needs the most work, as they’re all regrettably terrible.
“The guy’s putting is almost as bad as his driving,” said Benson’s friend, Tom Calvert. “But don’t sleep on his 5-iron. That’s awful too. I once saw him slice a shot into the golf cart a few feet away. That was probably his 3-wood or maybe it was his 7-iron…it’s so hard to tell.”
