An Iowa man set a new personal best by assembling and devouring a 3,400-calorie snack just after midnight recently. Brad Benson, 42, couldn’t sleep, so he went downstairs to the kitchen and “had himself a little snack” consisting of three turkey sandwiches, a bag of Doritos and three slices of cold pizza his teen son had tried to hide in the back of the fridge.
“Rookie move hiding the pizza behind the mayonnaise,” said Benson. “I’m obviously going to find it there when I make my sandwiches.”
Benson was reportedly full after the second sandwich, but there was some leftover bacon from breakfast the day before and he didn’t want it to go to waste.
“Next thing I know I’m eating that third sandwich and the pizza is just calling to me,” he said. “I really only ate it to teach my son a lesson.”
Benson’s previous midnight snack record was 3,250 calories when he found a French Silk pie in the fridge that was only missing a slice, and he proceeded to polish it off in about 13 minutes.
